In Summary - it is hoped that the projects outlined below will help to contribute, if in a very small, localised way, to six of the eleven target programmes defined by the Rwandan educational authorities to be applied in the next ten years, namely:
1) Rehabilitate, extend, construct and equip school infrastructures (through the work carried out by visiting students in summer 2005); 2) Elaborate curricula and textbooks and provide school material and other instructional aids (through the donations made by HBS to the science department); 3) Develop the teaching of the three official languages (Kinyarwanda, French and English - through the teaching of English); 4) Reinforce the teaching of mathematics, sciences and technology (through the teaching of science); 5) Promote alternative uses for school facilities (through the establishment of the internet and implications this may have for use by the community of Muhura); 6) Prioritise the training and support of teachers (through small-scale localised teacher-training within the science department at G.S. Muhura).
The presence of our two link teachers at Muhura School will enable potential future projects to be identified, and plans made to facilitate the completion of these by the visiting Henry Box Students in July 2005.
